Justice, you're right, 2.7's aren't totally horrible, it's just after having access to 3.15's & getting the rugged sweeped from under us, it's depressing. And at the same price I might add! Most recent email, bad news, good news & more bad news haha Hi, Thanks for your feedback. á The prices are the same as the 3.15 gears, the gear sets are priced at $1,268.18 AUD each. If you purchase 5 sets in the one transaction the price will drop to $1,141.36 AUD each. If you purchase 10 sets in the one transaction the price will drop to $1,052.59 AUD each. á If you wanted us to manufacture the 3.15 gears you would have to purchase 20 sets (can be auto and or manual), they would be priced at $976.50 AUD each. á If you have any further questions donÆt hesitate to contact us

I'm just surprised nothing was said or even slightly hinted to you or the 4x4 world that they were even thinking of doing this change.
What's even more surprising, is that when I spoke with Mark over a month ago originally, we were talking about 3.15 gears thw whole time. Then some Elliot fellow has emailed me recently telling me that it's been changed to 2.7. Weird! Somewhere I am guessing someone down in OZ talked Mark into making the change so they can be installed in the manual trannies and so they would be more conducive to overlanding instead of rock crawling. I have a feeling our opinion really does not matter. While I wish the ratio would have stay at 3.15, the 2.7 gear ratio will be adequate for the type of offroading I enjoy doing which is overlanding. But the price really needs to be in the $700-900 range like other crawler gears. At $1400 they are way over priced. I am not really looking to tackle the Rubicon. Because of the slip yoke design these t-cases really are not designed for rock crawling. If you plan to rock crawl you would be better off going with an atlas or an NVG241.

I suspect they've been considering this decision for quite some time since it is a potentially huge support problem for any sales to MT owners and his team finally decided on it once this set of gears had to be cut.

That is too bad. Due to the meager transmission gearing, the Montero really needs the reduction. To me the prices are great considering how much they must lose or barely make selling so few sets. Supply and demand!

agreed, & it was really great that someone was prepared to make the gears for us, we all know how hard its been getting stuff made for Paj/Monty. It took ARB ages to be convinced to do lockers & I am sure the market is still miniscule compared the Jeeps, nissans or Toyotas.
Would be good if someone could come up with a kit for a duel case setup! that didnt cost the earth!

20 Sets @ 950 AU$..??? thats a great price. We need to put our money where our keyboards are if we want the support. If we can't muster up 20 buys I can't fault them at all for stopping production.

I agree, if we can get them for that price I think it is a great deal and well worth the investment.
