dont know mate, does sound a bit strange, maybe he thought the first group buy wasnt going to get up or soemthing, or maybe he is just trying to ensure that he has buyers for the gears. IMO 20 sets would be pretty hard to shift.

Who's got the scoop on trannies vs. gear sets? The 2.85s were different for MT vs. AT. I think the 3.15s were too? I could be up for a set, but would want to do it with the 95 MT drive train. (Which I am leaning on keeping to put under the 2000...)
My 87 has a short shelf life at this point as I will not be doing any hard trails in the foreseeable future. Need to thin the heard as Jr. will be driving in another year. I love how the 2.85s in the SWB drive and am envisioning a better all-around LWB for back country adventures.

IMO 20 sets would be pretty hard to shift. I'm going to see if I can chat with him a bit. If I knew from the get go the triton group were in a group buy for 3.15's, I would've jumped on it. Honestly, I'm kinda upset to learn this considering I've been contacting him for months and not once was this mentioned. Ian & Ray. There may be some leftover Triton guys that werent able to get in on the last group buy. How can we get them in on it too?

Ok. Several things out on the table here. Who can confirm these?
1st, a Mitsubishi owner on Pajeroclub site mentioned that gear masters in the US made these 3.15 gears?
2nd, The Triton guys said they had a group buy lined up that should be completed soon that they used Rodney at Wholesale automatics to set up the group buy with Mark.
3rd, I asked about this group buy with the tritons and was it possible to get a easier target number for the 2nd group buy.
Now some new News, spoke with Mark and he told me a few things..... Read below...
"Hi Angelo, The group buy from the Triton forum never went ahead to our knowledge, the customers may have purchased them individually. á We can supply any amounts of the 3.15 gears but the price will go up as the gears are usually made in batches of 20. á I will get them to quote up making a batch of 10"

Update:
Pervious Email is actually from a gentleman named Elliot that works with Mark. Got another email this morning. He did indeed confirm that there is a current set of gears made up for Wholesale Automatics for the Triton group. Either way, doesn't matter who it was for, the fact that 3.15 gears were being produced for anyone & we werent told about it makes me upset, considering I originally asked them Months ago! It's like saying "OH, those 3.15 gears, they aren't for the tritons, they are for wholesale auto. So.... You guys will have to start another group buy"<img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" />
Surely they could've added 10 more to that batch when we started this whole process asking them to make 3.15 gears several months ago, right? Which leads me to believe that someone was playing silly (to be nice) and trying to get more group buys going on without letting the next interested party know about a current group buy in the works.
So with that being said, Wholesale Auto MAY have a few more leftover or uncalled for OR we wait to see if Elliot can get a group buy for less than 20 sets. Either way, guess I'll know something soon.

I'm just surprised nothing was said or even slightly hinted to you or the 4x4 world that they were even thinking of doing this change.
What's even more surprising, is that when I spoke with Mark over a month ago originally, we were talking about 3.15 gears thw whole time. Then some Elliot fellow has emailed me recently telling me that it's been changed to 2.7. Weird! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/ignore.gif" alt="" /> Yeah, you should definitely take that up with them. In addition to learning about the other group buy, I was also very surprised to learn they changed the ratio without letting us know in advance. Of course the reality is, they're the only source of gears so,the reality is we're sort of at his mercy. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" />

Nothing yet. Would like to stir up the pot a little on the other sites, but I'm like the new kid in the school over there for anyone to listen. If others that are regulars there could get some info. Te only other known group to achieve 3.15 gears were the tritons but I don't know any of them or the company that helped set up their group buy
That company that helped them could very well have some left over, but I dot know who to contact. Still wait to hear back from Elliot or mark. Sent 2 emails. I'll post once I hear back
Anyone care to research the Triton group buy or the company that helped them?
