I just purchased a 1989 V6 Montero from Kirk as a project vehicle and I'm starting to collect parts for the build. I have a Superwinch EPi 9.0 that I plan on mounting to the Monty. As far as I can tell, options for winch bumpers are pretty limited. ARB used to produce them for the Gen 1, but apparently do not import them anymore? Is Don still selling his bumpers/armor? Any other non-custom options? Thanks. Here is my bumper that I design and Sandhill radier made fantastically. You can always modify another bumper to fit or have one built for it. Quote My winch is going to be in the space between the bumper and radiator. IMHO the BEST place for a front winch is down low between the frame rails. I love the look of it. My winch is going to limit options for being "tucked in" closely as it is pretty bulky. It works with the ARB bumper on my Wrangler though which may fit the Monty with a little fab work. I may have to put it against the Monty to see how it would look/work. You will be surprise how much room there is between the frame rails. There's pics somewhere in the forum with it. Took about two hours of welding/fab to box it in at the mounts to fit the frame. It keeps a good approach angle. It is about an inch too wide on each side but not enough to snag or worry about. I'm happy with the result. Support isn't the greatest on the Gen 1's, I am going to duplicate for the silver on what I made for the black one, but make it so it fits a winch. there is plenty of room to mount a winch there, and no real worries about airflow either, as the fording deflector is right there protecting the radiator anyway. Between your bumpers and Recon's, I'm tempted to break out the welder and attempt to build one. Worst case, it would end up as some badly needed practice and some scrap metal. I also like the look of the Don bumpers and may contact him to see if they are still being made as I get closer to getting this thing running.
