Yeah, I agree that it's BS. I have watched your installation video and looked over your photos many, many times. It isn't that difficult.

I have to admit that acquiring a locker for the rear has been frustrating, to say the least. And if I had another option that would perform similarly to the Track Finder at a comparable price, I'd go for it. I have looked at the ARB locker for Suzuki Sidekick (based on Kia74's thread). But the air locker alone is over $1000 USD. And that's not a simple, drop-in option, from what I've gathered, because the bearings don't appear to fit the Sporty's rear pumpkin. Then there's the cost of the compressor setup. And what happens if you lose air in the sticks? No more locker??? That solution isn't one I want to pursue.

Kaiser's locker seems like another good option. But they don't have any in-stock. And they only make lockers for the front diff. So getting them to prototype a unit adapted for the rear, simple as it would be, would take a long time to get done - if they would do it at all. And there again, the price for the Kaiser front locker is over $700 USD (add in shipping 15 Kg from Brazil and import costs). When that's all said and done, will it be less than the $894 I'm now paying for the Track Finder pre-assembled in a carrier? I think it would cost the same amount, at least.

In my opinion, the Track Finder locker is the only reliable traction-solution for the rear axle, aside from the Eaton clutch-type LSD (which is the same as the Kia LSD - Eaton made them OEM for Kia). But you (Hadtomer) had one in your Sporty prior to the Track Finder. It just doesn't compare to a locker. And the Eaton LSDs are still selling for $600 USD. For me, that's the solution of last resort.

To sum it up, I'm not happy with paying the extra $$$ for the Track Finder. The only "benefit" is that it will come setup and ready to load in the housing. But after weighing the costs in time and $$$ for the other "options", going with the Track Finder at the "new and improved" price is still "reasonable", as painful as it is proving to be... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />
