I think the Eaton LSD would be better-suited for that job. A Torsen-type would also work. But it sounded like the clutch-type LSDs were the more preferred type among the Miata drifters - this based on forum searches on the OBX and other 7" ring gear diffs for the front axle. Yep, there ain't nothing cheap about locking the Kia rear axles, unless you weld up the spider gears (very cheap).

On another note, I checked my parts pile and realized that I never ordered the axle bearings, only the pinion and carrier bearings. So I'm probably going to pull a 28 spline axle (complete) and go that route, versus modding the 28 spline shafts to fit the 26 spline housing and bearings...

1997 Sportage 4x4, auto-trans, Warn manual hubs, 4" UPYOURKIA front lift, TJ 106AA rear springs, 2-5/8" body lift, 31x10.50 treads, SmittyBilt SRC front and XRC rear bumper, swing-out tire mount, OBX LSD front diff, Track Finder rear locker, 5.38 R&Ps and... really crappy gas mileage!
