I like the idea of a snorkel, but I'm trying to keep my truck as unmolested as possible. The idea of cutting body panels, especially in the rust belt, isn't very appealing to me. I was wondering if anyone has tried to do a cowl mounted snorkel, with say around a 3-4" rise? I don't anticipate getting into water above the hood, so I don't think the height will be an issue.

I feel like I saw someone do this years back, routing the breather up through the cowl vent below the windshield. Anyone know if this has been done/could be done?

You still have to cut into the cowl if you do that and that part's not so easily replaceable.

Based on your concerns I'd consider getting on car-part.com and buying a spare fender that you'll use to cut into and put your original fender into storage.

The only other holes you'll have to drill will be those for the 2 screws that go into the A-Pillar support.
