Yes, I agree that they are more water tight than other 4x4s. When you go on trips you go with at least a couple other trucks and you have the knowledge and tools to make a fix.

The average person that buys a snorkel thinks that they can drive underwater now. And wouldn't know what to do if they're truck broke down. I've seen too many people buy a snorkel and find out their truck doesn't swim very well. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

A snorkel is way more useful at keeping the intake out of the dust than it is for water fording,most of the time. But it sure is handy for that 1% of the time too!

I was the one with the cowl intake snorkel, back in about 02 on BetsyII. It wasn't easy or pretty,and I think it ended up being more restrictive...

Btw, the first step in any 4x4 waterproofing program should be to get rid of that pesky ignition system. Stops you dead the first time it gets wet... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
