The V6 axles will take the weight and torque and i think the springs would do ok as well but don't quote me on that one.

LR, I have a FUSO dealer near me and i could take a Gen 2 T-case front cover down there and see if it mates to any of their transmission tailhousings. The montero case would be better to use if possible because then you could use the stock V6 driveshaft with a 3.5 slip yoke and believe it or not Crawler gears are cheaper for the montero case.

Also bring a transfer case input shaft to see if it mates to the output shaft of any transmissions.

That would be totally excellent. Personally I'm not thrilled with an auto, but If that were the only option, I'd do it. IF this fits, I will have a Gen2 / 2.5 with one of these 4d34s in it.

How cool would that be. Locked bombproof truck with a super MPG strong last forever diesel.

I would definitely sell my 3.5 motor towards a Fuso diesel swap Of course I have to go Gen1 just to stay old school. Ive got SR parts under my Montero anyways.

LR, the manuals are pretty easy to find, I'll go have a look next time i'm over there.

On a side note if you do this swap in a gen 2 you could simplify the swap with a divorced t-case and not only get a better low range and stronger case but no slip yokes.

couldn't the divorced case work on the LWB since its has as much room underneath as the Gen2? Or is their some benefit the SR has over a Gen1? I was looking at Fuso transmissions, and they seem to have a brake on the output shaft of the transmission? am I missing something there or is that just a parking brake?

Here is some good reading:

4d34 into FZJ80

From the one photograph (second last of post #1) it is clear that this engine is mated to the tranny with the 'standard' Mitsu diesel method - a steel adapter plate, which makes it very easy to mate any tranny to it.
(My 3.2 Di-D 4m41 has the same system).

This thread seems to confirm this. Look at the photographs.

That's what i was saying basically since all of our Gen 2's are LWB here. so yeah LWB gen 1 would be great.

I'd Kinda rather have a Gen 2.5 Luxobarge though.

looks like it might be a 2wd, good candidate for a total sas fuso swap with passenger side drop cruiser transfercase.
