X2 on that. They sell the Purolator Pure One at Pep Boys. That's the one I usually run. My second choice is the Napa Gold/Wix.

Dollar for dollar best oil filter out there and it is even not to expensive is the denso oil filter, I have ran them on my mitsus for 10 plus years no problems

I believe the part number is 150-1006

I buy them through my work pretty easy, if you can find a place that distributes worldpac parts they will have them

Purolator Pur-One, if available, or NAPA Gold for me. Just buy 'em two at a time, they look good on the shelf.

Another vote for Purolator from me. All I ever run on any of my vehicles.

On my SR, both Mobil 1 & K&N looked very similar if not identical.

They are. As mentioned in the link that pcc previously posted, the only significant difference between 'em is that the K&N has a nut welded on the end of it. They're both made by Champion Labs.

I was under the impression there was very little difference between any of the brands and filter media. I thought only a few companies manufactured them. The check and bypass valves I was told were the only real differences. I mean who knows for sure.

Their not the same ... And if you have cut open as many filters as I have in your day to day job you would be running Wix ....

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Thanks for all the info guys -- I'll check out the Purolator/NAPA Gold filters next time. Now that I think of it; I am pretty sure I used those on my last Montero with great results. Fun re-learning all this stuff again. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/pfft.gif" alt="" />

Third times a charm.

I always just run the Mitsu filters on both mine. I swear my engine runs quieter with them...less ticking. YMMV
