Well 9 months ago......you guys know how that works. Blaise Beaux Bourgeois was born on Saturday Feb. 4. He was 3 weeks early. The week before the delivery his weight had slowed dramatically. The placenta had started to calcify. It does that at week 38-39 when it matures. We were only 35-36 weeks. They were probably going to C-section him out. When we went in that Friday she had already started to dilate on her own. This was good news. So they decided to keep it going and she gave birth naturally on Saturday. He was 5lbs 11ozs. He is a tiny little guy. That is a .308 bullet in the pic below. He looks just like me when I was a baby.

One very cool thing I did was I asked our doctor if I could use one of my own knives to cut the umbilical cord. He said I could. He said we would not ask the hospital for permission as he already knew what they would say. He told us his nurses would not care. So I did it. I was going to cut the cord anyway so why not do it in a cool unique way. The knife I used is called the Izula from ESEE. I posted it on their forum and the owner of the company offered to send me a new knife as a replacement for the one I cut the cord with because I am going to save it for my son.

I just want to tell you both good luck, and we're all counting on you.

Congratulations you guys. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" /> Chels could use a beer and some jambalaya if she's not nursing <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" />

Jeff Russell definitely added to the cool factor; as did your doctor, who needs a fine beverage of the top shelf variety for letting you step up in there. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Hey, SParky, that's GREAT, man. I have some plans to toodle down to Delcambre sometime soon, and I'd love to dandle that one in the air and make stupid noises at him.

I feel closer to this than some of you. Sparky honored several of us by having us with him when he proposed to Chelsea on top of Rabun Bald in NE GA. He was high, about 4600' high when he did it. He was damn sure in his right mind, though.

Miss having you close by, Sparky. My heartfelt congratulations and best wishes. Know you are happier back in Cajun country, and it's good to have young Blaise where he can set some solid Cajun roots (and old Eddy can come see him and eat crayfish gumbo from folks who know what roue is).

Awesome Sparky! Enjoy every minute you can...they grow sooooo fast! You should save that bullet too, and let him fire it on his birthday...13th, 16th, or 18th...something special. smile

Did they require you to sterilize your knife first?
