My '93 has rear ABS and last year I had to replace the differential. I had to find one with rear ABS and what I found was there is a sensor mounted on the differential. Must be some type of "hall sensor" (or hall effect sensor is what I think it is called, we have some of those at work that detect motion) and it detects the teeth on the ring gear. If your rear differential has this sensor, the axle housing shouldn't matter. this is attached to the rear differential or hogs head or technically speaking some people call it pumpkin (made like a Ford rear differential). If it is just the drivers side axle shaft or passenger's side axle shaft, I think they were identical and shouldn't matter if it has ABS or not. The housing for the rear differential shouldn't matter either. HTH
