Getting the Wheeling Fever
I have a 1994 T100 3.0L V6 5 speed manual. I am the origional owner since 1995. I remember being told it had rear ABS. If it does, it has never done anything. I drive on snow pack 8 months of each year. Stomp on the brake and it locks up. No feel of modulation in any form.

Never found these things to be worth anywhere near what they cost on a new vehicle. Our Subarus have anti lock and they work. I test them now and then to feel if the are operations. They always pass the test. However in my day to day driving on snow pack winter conditions they never activate. People need to practice a bit and they won't need them.

On a truck with a manual transmission the wheels are always connected to the motor. The only way to lock the rear would be to apply enough brake force to shut off the engine. The engine is more then enough of an anti lock system. Not likely for one side only to lock up.

I really think ABS is a lot of hype which does not live up to it's expectation. If your system involves the differential and you can only find a unit which does not have ABS. I would go for it. To me the T100 rear ABS is about as useless as the front ADD stuff which doesn't unlock when I need it to.

I kinda figured as much. I have had the ABS activate on wet roads before but never in snow. On wet roads imho it scraes the bejesus outta me.

I cant wait to get a new rear, there is nothing besides left that could cause a driveline vibration at this point but the rear.

About 2 years ago I redid the rear axle shaft on the pass side (bent one), new motor and trans mount and carrier bearing and checked all u-joints. Amazingly after all of that it rode smooth. Till I noticed a leak at the axle seal and redid the seal, and ever since then it has come back and wont go away. You can physically feel the wheel hop on that side. Its not horrible but having a drum covered in gear oil isnt much good, just didnt have the cash to fix it till now.

If the axil ratios are reasonable, not sure what the benefit is to replacing the differential.

As for wheel hop, about a year ago my T100 started to hop when pulling away from a stop. Too much clutch and it really jumps. I thought it might be motor mounts but, they seemed ok. I later found that my right side rear spring was completely broken off right over the axil housing. I assume this is the problem. I got a new set of springs from Alcan Spring in Grand Junction and they are being installed now. I will report back when the work is complete.

From day on the T100 the 2 leaf springs were no good.

I thought the same problem. I have a completely redone leaf pack with even an extra spring in there..still jumps.

Im mostly wanting an entire axle b/c what happened (or what I think happened I should say) is: Due to the axle shaft being shot it eventually galled out the inside of the axle tube, causing it to be out of round. SO no matter how many shafts, bearings or whatever you do it wont ever work right. I cannot figure out any other reason that even toyota themselves cant get the axle seal to stop leaking. Ive replaced it 2x, my buddys shop has doen it 2x and so has toyota. it still leaks. Replaced the shaft 2x now, thought maybe I should buy new not used 2nd time, figured maybe the guy pressed everything wrong..nope.. Every mount is new, springs are redone, etc, etc, etc. There nothing left but the axle. I take the rear shaft off and drive in 4wd it smooths out, I drive in 4wd it smooths out slightly. Put the truck in the air disconnecting the rear shaft and drive it in the air-perfectly fine.

If I spend for an axle and for whatever reason it doesnt work Im trading it in on something.

Actually... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shiner.gif" alt="" />

Have you had your frame checked and measured for square? That could cause it also and may have led to that initial wallowing out you suspect.

Yep, had that checked too.

At one point I replaced every mount and bushing at once and had the axle seal redone. It leaked slightly but surprisingly it didnt vibrate. So me being stupid and not leaving well enough alone (it maybe dripped enough to clean every 5000 miles) I redid the seal again and blammo theres the vibration.

Im sure its the rear axle assy, there is nothing left to cause it and at one point replacing the axle shaft made it lesser, doing all the mounts lessened it, etc, etc.

I just had my buddy order a rear, 900 dollars and its mine.
