so i have found me a couple of good blocks all from turbos. and need help. i need to know well i have anyproblem useing a oil pump from the non turbo. and is there anything i have to do, i plan on putting new piston and rings bearings, t-kit. putting it in my 88 raider. useing non turbo head not sure if theres a differance. i just need to know what i can and cant use please and thank you to all.
oh i picked 3 block up one is all stock two have had bs kits and ones been boared. how much did i pay 125

No problem on using the non turbo pump and pickup. If you have the cranks from the turbo motor's they are hardened and a lot tougher.

The turbo blocks will have oil jets to cool the bottoms of the pistons. You can leave them in without any issues.

The main difference on the turbo heads is that they used stellite faced exhaust valves. Some Montero 4 cyl motors did as well. If you dont have them, it's a nice upgrade.

BTW- magna flux the blocks deck before you machine them.

Sounds like a good find.

Make sure the cranks are not in too bad shape.

All most looks like forged pistons on the one. Hard to tell tho to small.


1997 Montero LS with a motor swap a 1990 V6 12valve ported heads full 2.5in Ex I run stock tire size for Daily use, off road have 33x12.5 working on going trubo.

yes i know i will probley just get one running n/a for now since i really miss driving my raider not to mention the geo storm gsi iam driveing right know is do well over due for the junker 260,000 miles with only a t-belt and plugs and wires. i am ready to build. hehe
also picked up a lower skid plate, wiper arm and the little cubby hole for the midddle console yester for 10 bucks. i had them once before. but hey they got lost when i got traded the raider then got it back long storie anyways thing are looking good. well let every one know what goes on as i am sure i will have more question never have rebuild the lower ends on the 2.6.

SQ's also have different valave seats to i think, and different water pump, the sq water pump has fitting for a hose that wrpas around the back of the engine.

My monty has that and its a n/a block...its for the heater core.

my raider water pump does the same goes out to firewall to heater core. i will let you guys know more when i get them here and look. and compare.
i have pic of parts and peacies from what i got and ill take more when i get the t blocks. but all the help is nice.
question i have two heads both were from n/a blocks but on the casting on intake side on front it has T. cast into it and the othere has nothing?
