Hey

Just wondering if there are any die hard mikuni fans who just love there factory carbs to much but have decided to weed out any of the vacuum hoses and things they control, say they are not neccasary but more for emissions type stuff.

Make it more simple for diagnosing and just less to go wrong

As much research as I've done on the carb, I'm gonna have to say probably not. The carb lacks internal regulation and requires those outside bits in order to work from what I can tell. I'd love to be wrong though!

It's an ECU controlled seteup. Not sure how much you can delete. I know some of the turbo Quest stuff can be removed though. There is an 87 FSM just for the feedback carb. You can pull it from my site. Maybe it can help you find your answers...

Good old Minnesota and no emission checks.

First thing i did when i got my 2.6....weber swap and ripped out every emissions possible and a/c.

About half of the hoses are for egr, either to open the valve, or keep from opening it when the engine is cold, or just not feeling up to it. If it's a high altituder version, some of the hoses are for the HAC, to advance the timing some at altitude. You need vac to the dizzy, the canister purge valve, and I think that's about it. It is a wad of spaghetti, isn't it?

Yes it is quite the wad, almost seems impressive they could engineer this

As far as the canister purge vale, is this truly required???

I know with the weber that all gos away, but is it neccasary with the factory carb?

Also I had taken off the secondary air valve by the exhaust manifold so it looks like a lot of that can go away as well.
