About half of the hoses are for egr, either to open the valve, or keep from opening it when the engine is cold, or just not feeling up to it. If it's a high altituder version, some of the hoses are for the HAC, to advance the timing some at altitude. You need vac to the dizzy, the canister purge valve, and I think that's about it. It is a wad of spaghetti, isn't it?
