This came up in an earlier post but I thought it would be easier to make a thread of its own. My dad will chime in here and post the run. Fairly easy roads other than the one to the firetower. Ill have plenty of extra seats if I can make it to the ride. If someone can map this out on google maps it may help. I kinda enjoy the walks to the senic parts during the run so I would like to keep these included.
Ill try to talk SRTNate into taking his 84 raider smurfmobile instead of one of his others.

EDIT: here is the proposed run
I'm ready to go - need to get into the woods before the trees leaf out good, and the native azalea will be blooming soon on the road to Rabun Bald (second highest peak in GA, you can walk to the top in 20min to the lookout on the old fire tower stone base...

I propose the scenic trip. Sarah's creek, then up to the top of the ridge by the bartram trail, then down t-something creek road back to warwoman road, then over patterson gap to the tallulah river crossing to charlies creek and blue ridge gap? Ball creek road is still closed, I think, so the walk to Cherokee cave is out. I'll check with the Wayah rnager station on ball creek road open date...

Sounds interesting although my not sure my Raider is capable of SERIOUS offroading. Only 31" tires and new shocks and does well, but depending on the severity of these roads might be beyond it's capability.

Body Damage is Cool
Little short notice. If it was in April I could easily try to make arangement, but I will see what I can do.
How many days will it be?
Camping or logging?

I am interest and defintiely would like to meet some of our Georgia peeps. If I go I will only be able to sport my 32" At's. I will not have 36" ready by then, and my trailer to haul them down.

3-17-2012 sorry I forgot to put the year in the title hope that helps. Also do not lube your head bolts before you come on this trip. No one wants to tow you out.

I'm wheeling a 99 astrovan which purportedly has awd, on 285/75/15's. It's done the whole run except the fire tower road. I'd probably try that, but parking at the top is a little limited, so I'll leave room for small fry...

I've done the whole thing on 235/75/15's in a swb gen1. This is more a woods ride, not real wheelin' except for a couple of optional showoff spots. You want to wheel, I'll give you directions to the orv trails up near Blue Ridge at Beasley Knob...

Nate doesn't have the Shogun swb 3.5 running yet? Tell him to lay out of work and finish it up...

I expect MarkG will chime in, too. I'll try to hack up a gggggooooogly map.

My head bolts are lubed up and ready to go....

This is not exactly the test I wanted for my fuel injected/Megasquirted 2.6 Raider (which will likely get wrapped up the night before given my historical procrastination) but why not At least this thread got my off my bum to order the last few fittings I needed...LOL. Who's towing me off the mountain???? It's never more than 100 miles from my house so I'll just call AAA for my free tow

After tuning various turbo projects with Megasquirt over the past 5-6 years tuning this little NA 2.6 is cake. Takes longer to bootload the computer than get a driving tune You'll love my IAT install too....since it'll be turbo shortly I didn't feel like building 2 different intake pipes and welding in an IAT bung for each (of course I'll build an appropriate intake pipe for the turbo version....LOL). For the NA portion of the project, it'll be duct taped to the air filter housing. Ghetto at it's finest.
