Clayton, GA. A long ways, iow.
Map Source: Chatooga District Map Page

The itinerary:

Breakfast sat 7am(?) at Waffle House, Clayton, just S of int of US441 and US76.

N on us441 to 2nd red light, r to int w/ Warwoman Rd, R on w'woman to left on Tuckaluge Rd, near Antioch Ch. Approx 6mi from us441. tuckaluge rd is a co. rd for abut half a mile, the fs155a begins.

We will loop around fs155a, side trip to the ridgetop on 155 to the west, then east on 155 to fs156 (sarah's crk rd), r on 156 back to war woman rd, then east on w'woman to Overflow Creek rd, fs86, which turns N off w'woman just across the west fork of the chatooga river. N on fs86 to just past the intersection with 86a, then a walk in the woods to Three Forks, where three streams with waterfalls all come together to form the west fork of the chatooga, then back uphill to the trucks, and 86 to fs7 (hale ridge rd) to NCsomething by the big dead chicken houses, left to fs 413 (Webster Mtn rd) to the pig trail to Rabun bald and another uphill walk to the peak and the lookout. fantastic views across the piedmont - in good weather you can see CLemson SC.

If time permits, I always like to do the patterson gap to tallulah river road to charlies creek road, just to ford the river, with perhaps a side trip on the real charlies creek road to see the remains of the old amethyst mine. We may get to see the bar and hawg hunters again, who demonstrated to the ladies how you tell the diff between hawg tracks and deer tracks, using the real dead legs of each. We will cross the appalachian trail into upper hightower valley and back out to US76, then east to Clayton. There is a pretty decent restaurant on us76 but quite rustic. There is also a pretty challenging loop off us76 just east of our second xing of the ATrail.

According to usfs ranger station at Wayah, Ball creek road into the So. Nantahala wilderness is still closed, so no real high altitude work unless we enter the other end, a LONG haul thru Franklin NC.

Camping: See the FS Recreation map at the above link. Primitive at sarah's creek, improved with shower house and real toilets at Tallulah river just before Charlies creek road turnoff. Many other campgrounds. This is high country, and damn cold at night in March.
