I would be surprised to learn the tanks aren't baffled. The Galants have baffling going back at least as far as 1991, and that model was largely unchanged from 1989 as far as I know. Then again, why would they have designed for a high pressure electric fuel pump for fuel injection on a carburetted vehicle?

I wonder if a swirlpot could be installed between the tank and fuel rail to prevent aeration. I know they use them for race cars to prevent starvation under high cornering loads when the tank is low, but maybe this is an equally viable situation.
