found it. turned out that when i had my o2 sensors replaced the mech was kind enough to run the lines to the rear one on top of the drive line. a little liquid tape and alot of electrical tape fixed her right up.

98' BBJ Grand Laredo 5.2 locked and loaded,.01' Gen III XLS. Frankenmonty lives on in another.
