Got a chance to take the Montero out to Box Canyon with this kids this past weekend. Spent most of the day running the trails, and went through the canyon late afternoon. Truck did great, and only had to put in 4WD once while doing some pretty steep bits. Had to turn away from a few obstacles, since I didn't have skid plates or sliders and such, and didn't want to damage anything, or get stranded with the kids in the truck. I didn't air down either since I don't have a compressor just yet. But we had a blast! Looking forward to getting out and really putting the truck through the paces. Front end seems a bit loose and noisy when bouncing around, so I need to start looking at the front suspension for worn parts. I'm thinking either the sway bar is loose (which I'm going to ditch anyway) or the idler arm has some slop in it.

Glamour Shot!

Nice to see your truck out of the garage! JK
That's a super nice area this time of year.
Too bad we had such a dry winter, there should be alot more color in the desert.
Oh well, we love it just the same.

Excellent J! We really need to rally the troops for a good mild run with everybody since we have J back on the road and the new guy (name slips past me) and bottom feeder is back. And we need to get good ol monte 3 involved as well.

Jay, start by ditching the rear sway bar and see how you like it. Then take the front one off and drive it for a few days. Don't throw it away!

I put mine back on in the front, as it was just too annoying going around corners, especially on the freeway.

Elisa runs just the rear sway bar and no front but her truck needs to corner like a race car. No sway bar for me though.

Hi. My name is Brian. The bulk of my off-tarmac experience involves steering with the skinny pedal on the right and pointing the side mirrors where I want to go. I'm looking forward to making a maiden voyage like this one. Kudos!

Also, given enough notice for said "mild run," I could probably talk a friend and his wife to bring out their nearly stock JK. (They're the ones who finally pushed me over the edge to find a Mitsubishi 4WD.)

Sorry dude, I can sometimes be short term forgetful, but tell me something really un important 10 years ago, chances are, I'll remember . Not really sure why my mind works like that. I will remember now though, as long as you stick around for 10 years.
