Here is the run down.

83-85 Mitsubishi pickups ALL ENGINES used a square Mitsubishi heavy industries compressor. If the compressor is internally locked up....FORGET IT. Guy have to make their own gaskets to reseal them. If they turn they are generally good. They never had a low cutoff on these so they got junked if they ran out of oil/freon. Nothing else will fit the bracket either.

2.0 and 2.3 diesel are interchangable. 2.6 really doesnt work out as a swap.

Now if you have a 83-85 RAM 50 from dodge than it uses a Sanden compressor availble at rockauto.com

For whatever reason the dodge trucks all had a different a/c system under the hood. Which is good because the compressor is available. Just look for it.

I collect the square ones when I find them and the tensioners etc. Pick a part is great for that! I pass the locked ones. NO INTERNAL PARTS ANYWHERE for the square ones! There is a place in Van nuys ca that will fix the square ones, but only if they spin. It's called compressor international.
