Also need to drill a couple of 1/4" dia holes in it. I know a regular drill bit won't work so well so I'm looking for any ideas out there. My plan is to use a couple of Semi Mud Flaps and cut them down to fit on my 96SR.
TIA,
Ray

you can burn a hole through then use a drill bit to reem out the hole.

How about cutting it? A heated up blade maybe?

heat a 1/4" rod and burn the hole thru, then ream with a sharp drill bit.
I've also had luck with hole saws, but don't think they make them in 1/4".
I've also used a cheapo drill bit, and drilled steel dry to get it real hot, then immediatley drilled the rubber.

Run them though a table saw.
I know a Monty owner who has one, but he's playing with boats right now, maybe you can sweet talk him into cutting them for you. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Get some 1/4 steel tubing. Sharpen one end. Leave reasonable length for material to accumulate but not too long so it's bendy. Use as a a hole saw in a drill or better drill press. Lube it with some water/liquid soap when cutting.

Lubricate the rubber as well as the cutting tool liberally with liquid soap. Trust me, it works!

When working with rubber, use a water based lubricant. KY jelly is perfect, to be honest. I have a bungee that is used for launching RC gliders, and I had to get this big thing with an eyelet on it stuck into the rubber. Tried EVERYTHING. Lubed it with KY and it slipped right in and then stayed forever.
