Any suggestions on finding replacement window molding. I had my truck repainted. They had to pull the window to weld some spots on the A pillar. In the process they jacked the moldings. I can get them from the factory but they're pretty pricey, I'm looking for a cheaper alternative.
The windshield companies have a rubber trim on a roll that doesn't look to bad, they install free when replacing windows, might run you about $50 to have a company install it for you. IIRC, 4crawler has a right up on his site. Rubber molding on '84.
Toyheadauto.com has a listing for abou $128 for the molding, not sure if that includes the chrome trim insert or not.
More than tread lightly. Leave it like you were never there, nor anyone else. '90 X-cab 4.88's 33 BFG AT's, rr ARB, Headers, Ignition upgrade, cold air induction. '91 X-cab 5.29's 315's BFG MT's, rr ARB, custom bumper and flatbed
I like the black rubber look. Since the paint job is semi gloss black. I think figured out the problem why I couldn't find any solutions. I've been googling "molding". It returned Toyheadauto.com as a link. But when I did a search for "molding" on the page it wasn't found. They call it "trim". Is "trim" the more common term for it?
Yes, trim its more of an industry standard. Using "windshield" with the word trim or weatherstripping might help with your search. The trim is the same for both the '84-'88 trucks and '84-'89 4 Runners. You might also give ebay a try or google search for you used toyota truck parts suppliers.
You can't see it in the pic, but the rubber trim the windshield company uses leaves a seam where the two ends meet, I used a vulcanizing rubber adhesive to seal the seam. I didn't keep the truck, so I don't know how long the rubber trim lasts, 4Crawler should have a better idea since he used it on his Runner.
