Anybody replaced their windshield on the Gen. I??
Is it worth finding one at the salvage yard and have a glass shop put it in??

I did recently on my GenII after a rock cracked it. Actually I have replaced the windshield about 3 times for rock damage. The angle and glass don't seem to stand up well.

I would not recommend junk yard glass. Even a minor chip along the edge can cause the glass to crack on installation. A local shop did mine for $300 for new glass (insurance covered $50). Safelite quoted $167 and I knew a good quality job could not be done for that.

I have always had issues with creeking noise caused by cold weather and the windshield glass. None of the replacements solved the problem, just seems to be a design issue.
