I haven't received the engine yet to take a look and I'm out of state for another week. It will probably be after the 4th of July weekend before I can start working on it.
Motor mounts: Can anyone verify that the 2.6 and the 3.0 mounts are the same? OEM 2.6 mounts are cheaper than 3.0 mounts so that would be nice.

I decided not to mess with the Hyundai oil pump and ordered one. I also ordered a harmonic balancer and water pump.
Anyway, I'm going to need to get another engine stand and have both engines on them side by side.
Question: Does anyone know what size/thread bolts I need to get to mount the 3.0 to a stand?

I have an old FSM for my 89 that's made of paper. I'm pretty sure it has that data in there. I'll probably forget to look when I get home...I think 16mm and thread ?. Now in my senility I remember I have a can full of them, I'll try to check... I think thats a good decesion on the oil pump. Hope you get a good one. Check it out close for flecks of metal on egdes where casted. Frank R had a problem with one there. And a very good decesion on the HB. They are a soft metal and I don't think it takes much damage from abuse and general waer to make one unbalanced. I tried to buy 2 but they both came in cracked(NAPA locally. )They were Chinese cast and metal was full of bubbles and they crcked apart in shipment , Beware).

I have a digital copy of the FSM so I'll give a check in there. I don't know why I didn't think of that. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> I hope the oil pump is a good one too. I checked a lot of places for OEM, but couldn't find one. I ended up buying a Clevite, which is probably a rebadged Melling. I'll definitely give it a good look over before installing it. Cheers! Rob

As I recall mine had 10 rating on the head of the bolts. The book says a "7". Dang drove off without the book.
It will take like 3, 12mm-1.25 and 3, 10mm-1.25 I don't know if you'll use those brakets that run along the bottom of engine that tie to the bellhousing for the engine mount. Those are 8 and 10mm . Get you some good "old" bolts at NAPA that have dust on them. Look in transmission section of FSM. Picture shows the bolts going thru the bellhousing and gives lengths and diameter, but not pitch on bolts.

The engine came in yesterday. I'll try to get it on the stand tomorrow and take some pics. This is going to be fun!

Zombie thread alert: This one is undead.
Anyway, I started working on this one again. Life got in the way in a big way, but now I have the time to do this. I had some bolts on hand that will work to hold the engine to the engine stand and cleared some space in the workshop. I'll get it mounted to the stand tomorrow.

Very interesting. Following this one.I just recently worked on my 95 SR. MBrannon told me to find my parts from a sonota DOHC V-6 since, I couldn't find a montero SR. Valve lash adjusters just slid right into place. The rocker arms I got pretty much looked the same except the parts were all "updated versions" ( bigger oil holes).

It's on the stand. ![[Linked Image]](http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x164/homebrewer71/download.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x164/homebrewer71/download1.jpg) Note: The oil dipstick tube hole is drilled on the correct side with the Hyundai engine vs the Chrysler engine. ![[Linked Image]](http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x164/homebrewer71/download2.jpg)

Hyundai Sonata engine underneath the oil pan. It appears that the bosses for the oil pickup tube retainer are there so no drilling holes. ![[Linked Image]](http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x164/homebrewer71/download3.jpg) The oil pump appears identical from the outside except that it has some mounting points sticking out on the drivers side of the engine. If you don't have A/C, you can just use the Hyundai oil pump. Otherwise it will need to be replaced with a Montero pump. I suppose if you're feeling really brave, you could carefully cut off and grind the extra metal off. ![[Linked Image]](http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x164/homebrewer71/download4.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x164/homebrewer71/download5.jpg)
