Most of the V6 Montero's around here burn oil, valve stem seals. All of our local club Montero's have had their valve stem seals changed and no longer burn oil. Seems to happen after 160k and get really bad by about 180k, the unaffected truck would be Johnny's truck which has always run Full synthetic. When i put a new motor in my truck i switched to full synthetic because Johnny's truck was proof enough for me to make the switch.
