In a few days I'll be on a cruise to Alaska. We're also doing a brief land tour after the cruise.

Kewlynx - I'll send you a PM since there's a chance we could briefly meet each other in Fairbanks.

Got it; sent ya digits. Doing the cattle call visit eh? Hopefully you guys can come up the Glenn instead of the Parks to FAI. I've lived in AK for 21 years, and that was the first time I drove to ANC. Usually fly there or through otherwise.

You can keep track of the weather here:

Pack some extra socks.

Jeff, you are certainly making the rounds..

Enjoyed the get together with you (and Joe Micciche) when you came to NC for the job down in Asheboro, some years ago..

Yeah, Dan, it was great to meet you and Joe too. Whenever I go somewhere I figure I should try to meet people that I otherwise only know on-line. I met some 4x4 people in New Mexico and southern California when I was working in those places previously too.

I had a great vacation and it was great to meet Margie!

Margie, thanks for showing my wife and I around to some cool things in the area, and a fantastic dinner.

I didn't previously realize F-22's were based out of Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage. Saw a few fly over on Tuesday.

Yeah, if you guys had hit town earlier, I would've dragged you over to the collectible car display that rotates out of here from all over the country, as well as a couple other very cool things. As I told you and Cathy, it was absolutely my pleasure to take you folks around.

http://www.fountainheadmuseum.com/ IIRC, they've been running this for about 6 years now.

The F-22's replaced the Strike Eagles down there; we do get them in once in awhile up here for Cope Thunder. The Brits are here right now. Those guys drink like fish! Been giving them a lift back to base with another driver after I clock out.

I am keeping an eye on what DOT decides to do with the bridge on the Copper River Highway. I want to do Cordova and Childs Glacier again; that was just AWESOME.

How was the float trip? Gets a little nuts if the wind is up!

Float trip near Talkeetna was good although that was the only day our entire trip that it rained. (We know we are very lucky for great weather this trip). We still saw bald eagles, beavers, and even river otters on the float trip. We met Mayor Stubbs the cat. In Denali NP we saw a grizzly bear from a ways away. We also went ATV'ing just outside the park until sunset at 11pm. Train ride to Anchorage was awesome!

If the Copper River Highway opens back up, we'll need to get you guys up here again.

Just read a road advisory for the Haul Road getting 4-5" of snow up in Atigun Pass (Brooks Range). Guess we'll be seeing more cranes soon.
