This is strange. All past discussions that I can recall have been about ATs without and MTs with. These included talks about how the ATs do have the neutral point in the t-case, but no detent to keep the shifter there. Same discussions include comments on AT and MT cases being different. For one, the MT has the tranny shifter on it.

You are saying shift lever for the case. In a MT setup, the two shift levers are one assembly. Sounds like you have an AT?
