I was attempting to change the spark plugs on my 95 SR on the Driver side. First spark plug went great, to my suprise. The seceond one and 3rd one, both, the boot and coil pack separted from each other. What do I do now, is the coil pack broken?

How am i suppose to get the boot out now?

Heres a pic, on what im talkin about...

you guys are killing me today, where r all the experts <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

anyways, i had ordered 2 new coils, just in case the coils either, A)broke with me trying to get them off or B)were the cause of my stuttering.

i decided to go ahead and attemt to get the boot off, witch was one heck of a pain in the ***. I used two small pliers, to pull the boot off, and after many unsuccessful attempts, and rubber ripped of the boot, and the actual coils being banged up, i finally got them off

I thought for sure the coils were damaged, but amazingly they werent smile

Body Damage is Cool
this is what happens when thepo did not use die elec grease on the boots if you stick a small pocket screwdriver under the edge of the boot you can slide it around the boot to cover and free it then you should be able to twist it and pull it out then you can stick it back on the coil just put die elec grease on the contact surface when you put it back in

it dosent have to be surrounded by water to be an island

thats a good idea (small screwdriver), my hands are so big though it was tough enough with pliers. I tell ya, the coil packs were very loose on the boot, i couldnt twist the boot at all with the coil attached to the boot

Can someone tell me how long these ignition coils are suppose to last in the montero?

I just bought 2 of them....but im gonna test the other ones with a "ignition spark tester" before i replace them, is this tester a reliable way to test the ignition coil?
