Basic set up is run that ecu running fuel only with a starion TBI set up. I hope to run the factory harness although modified to run the different sensors and such that will be needed as far as wiring it all up and installing the new fuel pump etc i have no problem with that.
Its the ecu and the programing, I am terrified to be honest and feel lost, i have been reading about people sodering jumper wires, programing tables all sorts stuff i just dont know what it is.
Basically what do I need to get this started?? Do u know if ill need to do any internall modifications to the ecu?
Any advice or help would be appreciated
thanks
This is what i got so far as far as making a conversion harness, please look it over and see if i have made any mistakes.

That's about as far as I got with my MSnS install on the Talon back in 06. I bought their harness kit though, since I couldn't risk damaging OBDII with emissions. That first step is a doozie, right?
While we wait for sage advice, you might try pointing Google at the MS forums. Grab the URL, then start a Google search: site:URL +Starion and see what comes up. Could be a good start.
Good luck, mate!

ok since i posted that picture i have made about 5 revisions to build a adapter harness and i think i got the harness all built.
I just have to run one wire left, it is the oxygen sensor wire.. In the oem harness it is shielded, do you think it would have to be shielded in the jumper harness?

Are you going to run closed loop? The ohtwo sensor puts out very small voltages, and runs the high risk of induced voltages which screw up the signal, thus the shielding. If you run closed loop, you want a shielded wire. Ditto if you want good afr readings from a std ohtwo for tuning. Of course, you really want a wide band ohtwo for real readings - stock ohtwo sensors are only accurate at stoich, and you really want good readings in the 12-13:1 area for turbo tuning, and in the 16-18:1 range for high vac cruise settings for best fuel economy...
Not responsible for advice not taken...

fasteddy is right. The stock O2 sensor(s) need to be shielded as they are from the factory. The MS really needs a wideband O2 sensor. Sharing O2 sensors between a stock ECM and MS isn't recommended. Trying to tune without a WB is going to make your life extremely miserable (or so I've read ).
For parallel installs the stock O2 sensors remain on the ECM, the WB goes on the MS. The stock sensors are retained to keep the ECU happy (emissions stuff) but that's all.
On stand-alone MS installs, the stock O2s are dumped along with the factory ECM and the MS is installed along with WB sensor(s) to take their place.
Not sure which one you're doing but that's how it's supposed to work. Had my head buried in this stuff for weeks - toying with putting a MS3 in my Sport for fuel and spark.
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but why did you go with the MS1 rather than a MS2?

little upat I am almost ready to start up the truck after all the swap over has been done, if any one has some megasquirt tuning tip I would love some help, i feel like even once it is running it will be a long trip still tunning

Sorry. That's right. I'd forgotten you weren't managing ignition and port injection.
Great! You've gotten past the hard part, at least. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Since you're running fuel only, it should be relatively easy to get that mostly working now that it starts and runs for a bit. Did you install a wideband O2? Seems to me that one would be very useful at this point. Tuning TB injection isn't much different than tuning a carburetor. Get it to idle and drive around the block (more or less stably), WOT and cruise. In that order.
I don't have any links that would be useful for base maps on NA TB setups. Everyone is running injectors and turbos and those maps are useless even if they're for the same engine.
BTW, don't know if you ran across this. There's an on the fly tuning for fuel and I think timing for the newer software. I don't know if it works with the MS1. Does require a WB, though. Supposed to work really well and cut tuning time WAY down. I haven't bit the bullet and shelled out the $50 yet, so I haven't been able to take an in depth look.
