That's too bad fellas. Sorry it wasn't one of you. If it was easier to do, I'd sell you mine when the time comes for Betsy VI (GenIII shorty 3.2DiD 5sp in 2015?), but the headaches and uncertainty probably wouldn't be worth it... I wonder what legalities were met in order to register that one? There are lots of genII diesels up here, esp in BC. But my understanding (as posted above) was a 25 year rule stateside, which means you can only currently register 1987 and older...
Maybe the buyer will show up here... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" />

A few years ago there was a 1995 diesel for sale here in ST Pete Florida. It had a cracked head so I was afraid of how hard it would be to get parts. I asked the owner how he got it titled- he said he got it from someone locally the imported it into Tampa? Not real sure but it was titled as a Montero. I am guessing that since there is no major inspection or emissions laws they just looked at it as a montero . I have also seen a few Nissan diesels that have snuck in. If I ever get a few extra bucks...

<SOAPBOX> THAT would be playing with fire, IMHO. No vin number on JDMs, just a chassis number: 10 digits instead of 17. I don't think driving a Paj would be worth getting your <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/butwiggle.gif" alt="" /> sued to <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/evil.gif" alt="" /> in the event of a major accident. As someone who has jumped through the appropriate hoops to have my vehicles legitimately registered, I am seriously opposed to shortcutting the process via VIN switching, etc - its a black mark on all of us if things go wrong.

Agreed, plenty of Legal ways to get the trucks you want. All of them are WORK but play by the rules. Aside from Emmisions cheating to register diesels, i think that's ok to do since all the diesels are better environmentally than the gas motors plus DEQ is a joke.
