I drove my daughters truck the other day and every time I got out I smelled gas... Sure enough the rubber hose had dry rotted. I went to JY and pulled one off a newer Montero but it had smaller fuel opening (of course I couldn't tell until AFTER I got it off!) I found an old post with a NAPA part #. Off to NAPA I went with my handy droid LOL! The guy at the counter took one look at the hose and said he had nothing... So I asked him to look up the PART # Sure enough he had it. $52 with tax and back in business! The hose was a pain to get back on-I got the sliced up arm to prove it.

Fasteddy's advice is occasionally sound...

Wow, if you didn't have that p/n you would have been screwed! Bet you wish you had Hazy near you instead of that guy.

Have you also checked the other rubber fuel lines? It's very likely they're also pretty near their end of life and will need to be replaced soon.:(

2" wire reinforced fuel hose. P/N 1045 at NAPA. The smaller one is a ~3/4". the 2 inch is what you want. It takes some creative coaxing to get in place.

sasnydley,
I am about to do the same to my 89 SWB, I lose about 1/2 the fuel I try to put into the dern thing. Any tips; did you have to drop the entire tank to accomplish this task? Any hidden bolts that I should know about? smile Thank you in advance!
Take care

I replaced the filler hose on my 89 about 18 months ago. One suggestion I have, would be to take this opportunity to replace the small vent lines at the filler neck. They are easy to get to when the filler hose is out.

No need to drop tank. use lots of silicone spray. slide the hose onto the top connector. Lots of lube. Once you clear the lower connecter, line it up and slide it down and onto the bottom connector. Did I mention lots of lube?
