On my 86 Toyota truck 4x4 2.4 5 speed(use to be a turbo),I've an intermittent hard shifting problem.Had the shifter seat and bushing changed, and put in Redline MT-90 fluid, new master & slave cylinders.Pedal adjusted. All this was two months ago and shifted like butter. Now It's back to intermittent hard shifting into first and second. This can change back and forth on any given day.Clutch bracket seems good though rusty..no flex in firewall.Do these older 4cyl's have the bracket fatigue that the later 6 cylinders do?Could it be the rubber hose by the slave?A friend who has a repair shop wants to put in a longer rod in the slave and said this would fix the problem, but others say it wouldn't help.Any thoughts on this shifting problem? Not mechanical at all so I count on others and I'm too messed up physically to even check the clutch bracket...Thanks for any replies...Finally squeezed my decrepit body under the dash and checked the clutch bracket with a flashlight and see a previous weld around a stud above the cotter pin that is cracked.Have to find someone in the California motherlode area who will take out the bracket/weld it and put it back in or get the OEM replacement part if needed.Anyone know the OEM number or a good close by mechanic in Calaveras county?....thanks.
