Just saw the jeep one where the rear axle separated and they simply remove the tire and axle then used a 6" branch as a skid in itslace. Pretty neat show.

that WU guy was on a year of BULL RUN that ran on the SPIKE network.
he drove like a lambo (IIRC) and was throwing money around like there was no tomorrow.
i think he needs to re-read "4 wheeling for dummies" again...
in this episode i am currently watching, the cheap has a plug wire that is arcing against a metal piece in the engine.
what does he do? he cuts the wire in half. cuts out the part where there is a cut on the plug wire.'
he asks the aussie guy to get a piece of wood. he then uses a piece of hose and inserts the piece of wood as a conductor. the hose will be the insulator.
of course he then wraps everything up with some duct tape.
now... the trick is... they HAD duct tape all along.
sigh...

C-clip axles are notorious for that. There are better solutions.
A couple years ago at Desert Safari we had a Blazer break a c-clip in rear axle. He drove back to camp under his own power with some assistance.
A jeep hooked a winch cable to his right rear with a constant pressure to keep the axle in place. The going was slow but it did work.

that WU guy was on a year of BULL RUN that ran on the SPIKE network. I thought that tool looked familiar. I have tried to watch it twice now, and I can't believe that Wu actually has any real experience driving off road, or the producers have them driving that way for better TV viewing. He can't seem to pick a line very well, too much speed for a Jeep, and since when is it a good idea to drive w/the flow of a water way.

Here's my "You won't believe this" moment. Was wheeling in the boggy river bottoms on 7 Mile Island in the TN river several years ago, and a buddy hit a stump in a bog hole and bent and cracked his center link in the steering. We pulled it off, pounded it as straight as possible, and used a piece of angle iron as a brace, welding it in place with a coat hanger and two batteries hooked in series, using two sets of booster cables as welding cables. The DA drove it that way for almost a month before he finally fixed it. The alignment really sucked though, as we aligned it with a folding ruler...

Here's my "You won't believe this" moment. I thought for sure you were going to say you found a broken arrow, or some other kind of GVMT property in the hole.

We were in fact on guv property, TVA to be exact, supervised by the Corps of Engineers. Lots of little signs with castles on them nailed to the trees. The only guv artifacts nearby were transmission towers, a cable car across the river, and the old mosquito farms. Yes, they grew mosquitos for research, and the island used to only be accessible by boat, so they built a cable car from the bluffs across the river. The car and cable were still there about 15yrs ago, on the south side, with the motor removed, chained up to the south tower. TVA was very strange. They had a huge nitrate plant on the reservation, powered by the dam, and they decided that would be a dandy place for a nerve gas production facility. My uncle was in charge of it's refurbishment in the 60's, and it's upgrade to make binary nerve gas. Because nitrates are a primary ingredient in explosives, we always knew we were high on the Russian's "nuke it early" list. Fallout shelters sold well there. The area around the plant was huge piles of the stuff left after the fertilizer was made, a supposedly useless byproduct. Some smart guy made a fortune shipping it to Hawaii as it corrected some soil deficiecy in the cropping of pineapple in their soil there. TVA paid him to haul it away, too. TVA pumped so much mercury into the river that for about 10years, eating the fish was strongly discouraged. Made your kids look real funny.
We had our own Indian Mound, too, in the bottoms. I stand in awe of lines of subsistence level primitives with baskets full of dirt, building the damn thing by hand. It's about 200' on a side, a truncated pyramid about 100' high, down by the state docks in the flood plain.

No offense to the Jeep owners on here, but that show is pretty lame and just one big commercial for Jeep.
It seems like they have just what they need when they need it. Not to mention that it looked like they left all the straps on the logs in the 1st show and then left behind all the rope and pulley's in the last show.
