I'm honestly, sincerely not trying to be an or discourage you by saying this, but if the snap ring gave you that much trouble

I understand what your saying, i take no offense. Id like to address this as, i got a feeling its on alot of the experts minds here...

Im new to working on vehicles, its no longer economical to be taking my vehicles to shops to get repaired, so im trying to learn everything i can now, in order to work on my own vehicles. I freely admit im like a "baby" right now and really need to be spoonfed answers. I hate to use the old cliche but it fits here...everyone really has to start somewhere.

I understand my "simple" questions might annoy people here, and or frustrate the people trying to help me, but i really am doing the best i can. I went from not knowing what a wobble socket was to changing my spark plugs and wires on my 95 SR, which was done in one day. I was only able to do that by asking these "simple" questions, and using what i learned from peoples responses.

The snapring and pliers were something i have never heard of, ever. I had to watch youtube videos to see what they were. Not only that, but i was trying to be very very careful as not to damage anything.

I really appreciate everyones help and responses, thank you guys for being patient with me, i do take peoples advice, and i am learning.

On a side note, does anyone know where i can get another one of these snaprings? Does it have to be the exact mitsu part or can i just buy any snapring from a parts store that fits?

My rotors were rusted solid to the hub assembly, I laid the whole thing flat on a wooden plank, and ran a lag bolt with a huge washer (i used a circ saw blade for extra danger) down through the center to secure it to the plank. Then I spent eternity in a cloud of PB blaster, heating the rotor with propane torch and pounding it with a massive sledge hammer. It sucked, but it worked.

Take it to someone with a hydraulic press. Don't know what it would cost, but I can tell you it takes about 30 seconds to do it, and that includes setting up the press. I don't think it should cost more than a couple bucks each.

As for TheViper, I commend you for taking on the learning and doing. How else does a person get anywhere? I know plenty of people who simply won't try because they have no idea how. I don't mean that they are any the lesser for it. There are a million things I don't know that I won't be taking up any time soon. Just saying kudos for your taking this one on.

ok i think im all set for this job...heres a pic of what the modified tool looks like for the locknut, in case other people need to know (thanks to WigWiggy for the link), also i hope i got the right grease. The grease i bought looks and smells exactly the same as on the monty.

In case other people wonder about the locknut tool, i bought it off ebay. Its a 3/4-1ton wheel bearing locknut tool, made by performance tool(part number w1270). I used a hand grinder to grind off the 4 xtra metal stubs.

I started to do this job and ran into an issue

i got the rotor off still attached to the hub part, but the 6 14mm screws that attach these parts dont have any nuts behind him and seem to be only turning in place

how do i get these 14mm screws off?

Is it possible that all 6 of the bolts have rusted threads? Are you using an air gun to remove them? Have you presoaked the bolts before attempting extraction?

the bolts are turning, they arent rusted on, but they arent coming off...i expected to find nuts on the end of the bolts as i saw in a writeup done which was linked too a few posts above.

heres what it looks like
http://tinypic.com/r/3093nev/6

EDIT: I wonder if that outer part with the teeth that sits over the bolts is suppose to pry off?
