The 4 smaller holes go all the way through, and should be threaded to receive your ABS ring bolts. You'll only need to use 2 of the holes of course. The back side won't look 100% identical to your old rotors, but the holes should line up fine. You got wrong parts the first time, but that was just a fluke. Try not to overthink it.

here's a better set of pics

ahh, dangit...ur right. That s-u-c-ks. I already ordered some more rotors from rockauto this morning, the good thing is they seem like real good rotors, made by Centric. The bad thing is i put everything back together and now have to wait another week or 2 to do the rotors.

Well i successfully installed the correct front rotors today. Not a job i want to do anytime soon, as there were alot of components to get correct. Why would Mitsu make it so darn difficult to get to the rotors.

Thankfully i didnt run into too much trouble on the 2nd attempt. The correct snap ring pliers made getting the snap ring off a piece of cake. The chevy modified lock ring tool seemed just barely adequate, as it kept slipping off.

My technique for re-installing the lock ring was: tighten it up (but not overly, as i found it real difficult to loosen if you over-tighten), loosen it up, then re-tighten a little, then loosen slightly to re-align the holes for the lock washer. FSM calls for tighten to 119lb, loosen to 0lb, tighten to 18lb, then loosen 30-40 deg.

Thanks to everyone for their help and encouragement, i could NOT have done it without you guys!

My turn. I have to install new front rotors on my Gen 1. I need to get some special tools. I'll start with the special lock nut tool and the snap ring pliers TheViper mentioned on a couple of occasions.

I have new rotors sitting in my garage, I'll need a few other things like the bearing grease and some oil seals.

Maybe, I can get a hold of Viper and see if he can offer me some assistance. I wonder if he is in the Portland area? I'll send him a PM.
