Getting the Wheeling Fever

I've read that the '95 Monteros had a tow rating of 5000lbs across the board. I did some searching and see that my '92 SR uses a thinner front rotor than the '95 trucks.

I tow a dolly w/out brakes and would never exceed 5000lbs.

Can I upgrade my '92 to later brakes and safely tow 5000lbs w/out trailer brakes?
