And it's ok not to be a rochcrawler with dual T cases,,,that's not my thing either . You boys got the wrong idea bout dual cases its not about being or not being a rock rig its about control and making your rig able to take on what ever is thrown at it. if 1 of your dual cases is a 2:1 ratio case and your second case is a 3:1 case now you got your self all kinds of extra gear choices you can have a i'm gonna haul down a hilly road(2:1 case) or leave the 2:1 case in hi and engage the 3:1 to have better control over a rocky section of a trail or steep hill climb or better compression braking going down, NOW if you run into some really hairy stuff engage both in low range and crawl baby crawl. all things listed are things that can be ran into while out touring. there are even more reason than i've listed, but now you've got an idea or at least i hope i got that across But there are 2 main issues here, one is room under the vehicle, I have a long range thank that runs along the passenger side frame rail. that goes to the back of the front seats. the other issue is weight.. I jsut cant have anymore added to the wagon, I am already going through and changing designs to try to save a bit of weight to stay under the 2500kg mark. if you are touring there is a very unlikely chance you run into a place where you need dual t-cases. I will be getting a winch instead. more puposes mainly.

The Phillipino rigs seem to have those mirrors too. I like them as well.

Hey , sorry if I've insulted dual T case people. No insult intended, I amine your work an inginuity doing this. I use mine similary, as a long term camper/overland/expedition or whatever you'd call it.In 16 years that I've owned it it has done everything I've asked it to, and more. Modes I've made are only for slight ground clearanse gain for the gastank and reciever/bumper , improved on road handling (as this has been my only vehicle and D.D. for 16 years) and my Mods for using it as an all weather animal transport. To quote Bottomfeeder "you don't have to make mods cause Monteros are ready out of the box".

not at all it just seemed like you didn't fully understand the full power of dual cases nothing like kicking back sucking down a cold drink with one hand while idling over a tuff spot.

To get things somewhat back on topic, cruisn when is your next big trip out? how many days and or weeks? Since you mentioned weight cutting being a key objective have you dabbled in the idea of tugging a trailer?

Since you mentioned weight cutting being a key objective have you dabbled in the idea of tugging a trailer? actually I am jsut about to fly home from work in about 3 hours... woohoo, but we have a trip planned for the holland track this weekend. so I have to install my gen 2 calipers, new alternator and rad shround and fix a few little items. then we shall be good to go. it will be about a 350km trek through the bush, nothing extreme as it with a club I am helping to get going. and we want people to enjoy it and join up not be scared off. I will make a thread on the trip once we are back, as it should be a great trip, 3.5 days, 6 cars so far. quite excited. as for the trailer comment,I have thought about it, since we sometimes have to do a base camp type setup to explore tighter areas, but at the same time the roads here are so bad i dont want to really have to risk the extra strain on the wagon and the strain on the trailer, I am hoping loaded I can come in at gvw.. but honestly for remote travel that seems to be a pipe dream, I figure honestly if I can keep it to within only 200kgs over gvw I will be completely happy. which will set it at 2700kgs loaded.
