OK No overheating issues at all, BUT my starter issues are rampant. So I went down the ford starter relay fender mount road to attempt a fix. Everything is wired up and complete, but not working.

This is what happens now when you turn the key. The starter spins, but does not engage. I wired the motor side of the new solenoid to the second pole closest to the motor on the old starter mounted solenoid. I read in one of the many threads about this subject that the old solenoid also engages the bendix of the starter motor, and that would be why I get spin and no start.

So what is the fix for this? I could rewire the old solenoid to engage, but if it fails like it has been I have accomplished nothing.

Help please!
