I didn't like how the brakes felt on mine either and sometimes the boost didn't feel right, so on a whim I replaced it. Gained 2mpg and the brake felt better. Not LOTS mind you but enough. Oh, almost forgot- the old hose, probably the original one, LOOKED perfect.. it cost me just a few bucks for the hose- I want to say it was 9 or 10mm hose at the store.
