That sometimes happens with greasing fittings. you can replace the zerk fitting with a new one. It's usually an 7 or 8mm or 1/4" socket to remove the old one. ask parts store if they sell them first cause i've never bought them from a parts store. I always take them off used axles at the shop i work at and save them for such occasions as this.
