Getting the Wheeling Fever
I would like to replace the interior door panels with some diamond plat or at least something that isn't torn up. How the heck does one remove the window winder handle?! Is it clipped or just bruit force....HELP! smile

You maybe younger and can run faster, but I am older and have been around long enough to know where all the shortcuts are!

Mine have all been power windows but IIRC from other discussions there's a circlip holding it in place. The door handle bezel also has a screw in it.

It's easy to pull the circlip. Take a shop rage and use a shoe shine motion behind the bezel of the window winder handle. It will catch the prongs on the clip and slip it loose. To reinstall is even easier. Put the clip on the handle slots and pop it on the shaft. The taper on the end of the shaft will open it enough to slide down to the groove.

Take a shop rage...

I suggest using a shop rag, or a fine-blade flat screwdriver, to remove the circlip. Leave the rage where it belongs, on the freeway, workplace, and county-western bar.

Body Damage is Cool
I remember my 69 bronco and I installed some diamond plate door cards. They were nice. On the montero it may be a little flashy unless you add more diamond plate or chrome accents to the interior. good luck with ti and post some pics when you get it done.

Aluminum panel would be nice. Easy on the cutting tools too since you can use woodworking tools to cut it.

Do you want something that is more ruggedized like diamond plate? If not, then just recover the ones you have, or scrounge from the yards if you have any local.

If the original wood is broken and you can't find them in the yards you can also easily make them. The wood is available at HD, Lowes, etc.
