Takes a lot of turns for my old 89'3.0 to fire after sitting over-nite or thru a shift at work. Once she fires she starts on first crank every time.

Test ecu coolant temp sensor, on water neck at thermostat, points forward with two connecotrs in a tee shape. Cheap part at autozombie or advanced, around $30.

Had same issue with mine when I first got it...I replaced the coolant sensor, and cleaned the IAC and the port it seats into. Throttle body was gunky also. After that all was clean, I reconnected battery, and walla...no more issues for me...

Ecu uses ect sensor to determine cold start enrichment. When it's bad, it usually fails in such a way that the ecu doesn't know the engine is cold, so no cold start enrichment. As a consequence, the starting mixture is too lean to fire off cold. This usually starts showing up when the weather starts to turn colder, like lately...

In a few cases, I've seen the ect fail so the engine thinks it's cold when it's not, and you run very rich...
