Eddy , I wish I could post a picture.
If you remove the freeze out plug,,,the next part in is a plugg that is threaded in and has 2 holes for a micro spanner wrench. That part also has an orafice for another plastic pintle. There's a spring to push the pintle out of orafice when cold and heavy spring inside the pintle that pushes it into the orafice when hot. The "wax tank" is inside the casting where the h2o curculates round it.
I suspect this tank corodes and/or is damaged by raditor flush chemicals,,, it cracks and the wax washs away.
I'd like to use dremel and widdle the aluminum casting if I can find junk T.B. I cn't help but think that if the wax tank is theaded in also,,,that somehow this thing is rebuildable. I had to just "half do "this project in case I broke the casting trying to get the freeze plug removed. I don't live in an good place to get stranded without a vehicle.
On morning startup at 45o the ICS takes it from 1,100 rpm down to nice 700rpm warm.
Where I live now I probably don't need this gizzmo.
At this point, I'm thinking of removing freezeout plug,,then taping and instlling brass plug with threadlock into orafice - no gsket or epoxy to ever get sucked into engine that way.
And my knuckles are sure banged up running that little hose between head and firewall.
