SO I have been figuring a good way to bump up the idle on the raider to make more amperage when winching, also to increase idle speed for when the Weber is complaining about off angle 'wheelin. Then I thought it might work for a pseudo cruise control too. I think this can't be beat price wise:

There was a dealer install option for the 2.6 Montero/Raider for a cruise control, or you might adapt an aftermarket cruise computer/switch to a starion actuator.

Monteros, Gen I, came equipped with a hand throttle but not in good USA. If you notice on the throttle pedal arm there is a loop where the hand throttle connects.

I made mine with a bycicle gear level and it worls great because the one I had clicked into the different gears options.

if your local pick and pull has semi trucks youre in luck. they come with those hand throttle stock. its a knob that you turn to increase the idle. it attaches directly to the gas pedal. thats what i have for mine but havent installed it yet. i also read that a hyunday sonata v6's higher amperage alternator bolts right up to the gen 1 just have to swap out the pulley. hope this info helps.

thanks for the info. per the sonata alternator, do you have to change the voltage reg?

I read it was even the same plug! So its a direct bolt on except for the pulley issue. I wish this was first hand info but i didnt find a v6 sonata last time i checked my local yard.

i believe i read 95-98 v6 models. that lawnmower cable looks good. i ddont see what the endd of the cable looks like, though. hope it works for you. i need mine to bump the idle when my engine driven compressor kicks in for my onboard air system that im working on.

Need a Spot
I used JAVYPRO's idea on two of my older rigs and had the idea to do this one. My reasoning was for off angle/up hill wheeling where I could control the throttle to keep the carb running with one hand(had it connected to the shifter so I could shift and throttle, no clicks-spring return). You could also tighten it quickly to lock the idle up for winching/welding.

I'm interested in the Sonota Alt mod. Got to check that out!

91 or 2 thru 97 3.0 sonata has the same alternator as my 3.0. I haven't used it. It was in a big box of Sonata part a guy quitting the yard in Excramento gave me. I don't know if that will mount to the 2.6. The amps is 75 or 85.
