Getting the Wheeling Fever
I just got a 1990 montero that has not been run in 6 years. Motor was out and rebuilt but not in truck. Got back together and will not start. Has as alarm that looks factory that acts crazy when I hook up battery. The only way I can not make it come on is to attach battery cable with ignition in run
Position. I have spark and fuel... Just no injector or tach when cranking. Will alarm cause this? Was this a dealer installed option?

Yes it can. They are designed to disable the ignition. I'd look into removing it w/out damaging anything else in the process. Yes, that can be a PITA.

Maybe it's working it I do t know how to use it. There is a little red light right next to the 4way flasher switch and a small toggle switch directly under light. There is a loud speaker under the hood and a small microphone looking device under steering wheel on lower dash.when it goes off the running
Lights flash on and off.

Do you have an alarm fob to disarm it?

Some alarm systems also have switches installed under the dash that can be used to disable them. That's probably what that toggle switch is. What happens when you flip it?

Toggle switch is typically a valet mode switch. Sounds aftermarket to me. Mine came with a poorly installed aftermarket alarm. Ripped it out, but am looking for an alternative to get my key fob functions back.

I didnt get a key fob and I think the toggle switch is a valet switch, red light goes off when it's flipped. Truck starts on starting fluid. Is the control relay green and behind glove box? Looks like 2 wires, one dark colored and one blue with red marks on it kinda rigged going to bottom of relay. I will add pics if I can remember how.

Don't recall where those electrical components are but you can download the Factory Service Manual (which should tell you) from mitsubishilinks.com

Truck came with paper versions of 90-91 volume 1 and 2 and I do t see any reference to alarm system and it's not clear at all which relay is the control relay. I feel like maybe alarm is breaking some kind of circut going to control relay but if I'm reading service manual right it gets control voltage from ecu.....

I have zero voltage at # 52 on ecu plug. Would it still hit with starting fluid if ecu not getting system voltage?
