G'day Chris,

As much as you would like the diesel option for your Sporty you are very limited without spending squillions.

basic design you need a North South engine instead of east west which most of the newer vehicles are and can not accommodate a transfer case.

If you really want a diesel you may in Oz be able to retrofit a Mazda diesel option from the ninety 's but the cost would be prohibitive" You could source a diesel model from overseas but again cost would be the issue.

A viable alternative Aus would be the 3.8 commodore conversion. Through a company in ?Moree" They have fitted commodore v6 into mazda B2600 uses which outr drivetrain is similar to so should be easily adaptable but again cost is the issue. You we ot see change from 15 k from a professional conversion and that is without parts.

Do yourself a favor and enjoy the Sporty for what it is with the petrol motor" The motor itself is quite tractable for what it is designed to do. If you specifically want diesel sell up up and by a diesel vehicle.

my two cents worth after years of modifying vehicles and spending a crap load of money for what it's worth.

Cheers, Chris
