Howdy Gang,

I am really stuck on this one...

The wires coming from the harness to the coolant temp sensor have broken off inside the connector, which in turn causes my truck to use a 1/4 tank of gas in 20 miles, as the ECU doesn't know what temp the coolant is, so it seems to assume -40 degrees or something similar.

My buddy attempted to take the connector apart and re-solder the wires, but it is not holding together, and will likely fail in the very near future, as I get an intermittent CEL with the code for the temp sensor.

The dealer I use for parts could not find anything on it, nor can I when I search in ASA. No JY's seem to have any of these motors in my area

Is there anyone who knows where I can get a new or used connector with the wires intact? Or at least a part number so I can try and track one down?

Well, I'd go to Radio Shack and buy two female spade connectors and a bottle of liquid electrical tape, and identify which wire goes to which terminal spade on the sensor, then cut off the old connectro and crimp on the two new ones, put them on the sensor, and paint them with the liquid electrical tape...

is it a "T" connector ??? a picture of the connections would help they also use that connector on all mitsubishi cars 1989-1994

Mikey, I hope the pic below is of help to you. It does not look like T connector to me, but again, I am a bit of a nincompoop as far as electrical stuff goes.

Mitsu NA weren't able to help me either, as they said all the part information is deleted from their system after 10 years. I told them that was not wise, as there were still many of these on the road, and even more in diesel form, all over the world. They gave me Mitsu's number in Japan as a last resort. The woman then proceeded to tell me about some incentive to buy a new Mitsubishi, to which I replied, that there was nothing they made today that interested me in the slightest.

Hmmm. That looks like a GM type connector. Do a google on automotive electrical connectors and you'll find one to solder on your wires...

Looks to me you could just use two spade connectors and do away with the stock connector.

A picture of the sensor would tell us a lot more than just the connector. (So we can see the sensors pins.)

It'll be the two colinear little skinny spades. That connector will come apart with a little finesse.

My buddie was able to get the connector apart and he did solder the pin to the end of the wire, but in doing so, the clip that locks the connector in place broke, and the connection is intermittent.

I think I have a replacement sorted out, will know for sure in a day or 2.
