Not wired in yet need to get the truck running first but looks nice and will be a nice luxury addition to the Montero, from the Starion!

Got alot of small stuff done Install the Oil cooler from the starion useing the stock placement for the v6 same bolt patern and lines bolts, hard lines from the v6 with soft line to the oil cooler adapter from the starion. Would be super easy for someone to upgrade their v6 Oil cooler from like 6 row to 11 row a decent size upgrade and almost a bolt in.

How much additional power over a stock Starion setup will your new engine may? The turbo to intake manifold pipe is huge compared to the setup on my pick up.

Not really sure how it will perform.

mods:
Have Moded to flow air canister (doesnt fit well under the hood may mod it more)
K&N filter only marginal gains IMO
Intake pipe is 3in with moded to 3in at the inlet of the turbo for a like velocity stack effect for the inlet, probly not alot of gain but looks more cool! Could help spool up and efficency slightly.
Turbo inlet and outlet are ported.
OVCP is 2.5in probly twice the airflow of stock one with 1g DSM BOV (crushed should hold 15psi or so)
Ported TB the Bar is very large and actualy should have a somewhat decent amount of airflow incress (guess 10%)
1.5 in or so TB Spacer (used a second TB with no Valve) Should improve low end and mid range
Intake has a 60% incressed Plentum area, used before with large mid range power gains (by seat of the pants)
very mild port job with M28 non jet head no real gains exspected from that.
Exhaust manifold had a good deal of porting to the outlet to the turbo helps spool time and higher rpms
Exhaust housing is ported alot, actualy more then I have used before so not sure but larger outlet, larger WG, and should have incressed flow to the turbine.
The downpipe is 2.5in..... with O2 blocked off and have a 3wire down in the stock location on the v6
After the downpipe will be my real problem with making high power! Plan to use stock exhaust from the v6 I think slightly better then the conquest exhaust but not much.

Engine has BS removed (mostly just so I dont worry about them, but it ran smoothly before so not worried about that.
Also Have HD Valve springs. With Magna Rollers on exhaust side.

So overall I just want improved low end, faster spool, and as much power as the 88-89 without using a IC With better response, without it dropping off so fast smoother power band not so peaky.

Body Damage is Cool
I'm concerned that your lack of an intercooler is going to reduce your safe power level considerably. What type of engine management are you planning on using? Knock sensor?

Stock 88-89 Starion ECU, with stock knock sensor. Shouldnt be a problem since I dont plan to run that much boost maybe 7-10psi depending how it works. I do have the Boost retard adjusted to give me a few more degrees retard of timing so should help. But really with 7:1 compression ratio you can get away with alot. Besides the flat bodys ran non ic'ed also so even they did it stock shouldn't be a problem.

On other things seams my starter is not so good. couldn't use stock one since doesn't fit and I have a old one that seams to be bad will have to remove and test it out.

I got my coolant system connected now, Fuel pressure and pump are working and good no leaks now. Oil should be good without leaks. If I could get the starter to work I could probably start it Hope I can get it working:| may need to get the starter rebuilt.

Also swapped the stock steering wheel for the starion one! looks alot cool black and a little small for more sporty feel.

OMG I HATE STARTERS!!!!

Had the orginal stater in and messured and it looked all good for space with the engine on the stand(had to add spacers to get it to line up correctly) once I get the motor in the truck it was working good no grind turned engine over fine but sometimes would just click not do anything when I go to start, I figured it could be ground or other wiring I dont have connected at the time, or even the ignition. But once I got more wiring and in thory got it so it should start..... It only will click never turn the engine over So I removed the starter and tested it on the bench it would move forward but not spin so its bad, replace the motor from the v6 starter on the 2.6 starter and bench tested again same results, then replace soilnoid from the v6 onto the 2.6 starter and that seamed to work on the bench it would move out and spin (and I checked it seams to be moving in the correct direction)

Put it in the car and grinds like crazy but does turn the engine a little bit over, then added more spacers and it would grind still turn the engine over some then spin freely without turning the motor. So I thought maybe its too many spacers so removed all I could. no change..... thought maybe my engine mount was touching the starter and making it not sit flush, ground that to give extra clearance but no change....

Does the v6 soilonoid not move as far as the 2.6 one maybe? Other then the terminals on different sides it seams to look the same. Any ideas? I guess I could try the motor from the 2.6 with the soloind from the v6 and see if that works almost the only combo I havnt tried.
