I had the same problem on mine. There doesn't appear to be any indication from the seal that you might expect with a rubber lip seating. I also just used a deep socket with a couple of light taps and that seems to have been good enough. It's been a while since I did this and no problems from a seal slipping up the valve stem.

I think you'll be fine.
